Purpose of the Trip

This educational trip allowed me to experience first-hand the top Red Sea hotels in Hurghada, inspect resort facilities, and test excursions so I can provide clients with confident, personalised advice for their perfect Egyptian getaway.

Who Hosted the Trip

Red Sea Holidays, with the incredible support of Sarah Lavender and Tracy Wells, organised an exceptional itinerary with every detail thought through.

Accommodation Highlights

We stayed at Grand Waterworld Makadi, an ideal family resort with slides, pools, play areas, and even a lazy river. I stayed in a spacious Junior Suite, with a huge bathroom, separate living area, and balcony. Evening entertainment is varied and vibrant, and the a la carte restaurant Donner Island was an instant favourite.

Excursions & Site Visits

  • Day 1: Visited 8 Red Sea hotels, including Makadi Spa, Grand Waterworld, Makadi Palace, Siva Golden Bay, Siva Grand Beach, Grand Palace, Grand Resort and Al Kasr.

  • Day 2: Luxor day trip to Karnack Temple and the Valley of the Kings - a must-see for culture and history lovers.

  • Day 3: Orange Bay Island boat trip and snorkelling - perfect for families and all ages.

  • Day 4: Previewed the new 5-star deluxe Al Kasr hotel on soft launch - stunning and luxurious.

Standout Experiences

Makadi Bay resorts are part of a gated area exclusive to Red Sea guests, offering safety, comfort, and peace of mind. Late check-outs are standard, and the all-inclusive offerings continue until you leave - perfect for stress-free holidays.

Who Will Love Hurghada

From families to couples, luxury seekers to adventure lovers, Hurghada caters to all. Resorts vary in style and amenities, so there’s something for every traveller.

Client Insights & Tips

  • Never drink tap water - hotels provide bottled water.

  • Egyptian hospitality is relaxed - expect a calm pace and plenty of time to enjoy welcome drinks and service.

  • Pack bug spray for excursions like Orange Bay Island.

  • Best travel times: October – November or March – May for warm but bearable weather.

Food & Drink

Grand Waterworld offers a mix of fresh international cuisine and local dishes. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and dietary needs are well-catered for. Standout restaurants include Donner Island for à la carte dining and all-inclusive buffet options.

Travel Experience

Flights with EasyJet were smooth, and private transfers ensured comfort and efficiency. Hurghada airport is simple to navigate with short queues and clear procedures.

Would I Return?

Absolutely! Hurghada is versatile, family-friendly, and full of experiences that cater to all ages. I’d love to return in cooler months to explore more excursions and enjoy the Red Sea lifestyle.
