What was the purpose of this trip?
This was a personal city break, designed to explore Palma City first hand so I could experience the city’s culture, local food and unique attractions – and bring those insights back to clients planning their own escapes.
Where did you stay and what stood out about the accommodation?
JS Palma Plaza
This hotel was a dream base for the weekend. Chic, modern interiors, a rooftop pool, complimentary spa access, and even a free mini-fridge made it perfect for a short city break. The hotel’s central location also meant we could easily explore Palma’s charming streets, shops, and iconic landmarks.
What excursions or site visits did you experience?
Historic Tram from Palma to Sóller – riding the 1912 wooden tram through mountains, orange groves, and picturesque villages.
Port de Sóller – relaxing at the marina, enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine and calm atmosphere.
Sky Nudos – a rooftop sunset bar in Palma with incredible views of the city.
Castillo de Bellver – panoramic views over Palma and the bay.
La Seu Cathedral – a stunning architectural highlight in the heart of Palma.
Wine tasting in Palma – sampling local Mallorcan wines, paired with cheeses, cured meats, and traditional tapas in a cozy, authentic wine shop.

Palma City offers a perfect balance of historic charm, modern amenities, and natural beauty. Even in the winter months, the city has great weather, fewer crowds, and plenty of experiences – from markets and historic sites to bars, cafés, and boutique shopping.
Were there any surprises?
Travelling out of season was a highlight – it allowed for a calm, relaxing experience with all the charm of Palma but without the usual crowds. The city is surprisingly compact, making it very walkable, yet packed with cultural and gastronomic highlights.

Palma’s food scene is vibrant and varied:
Tapas & local wines – perfect for tasting local flavours.
Breakfasts and brunch spots are plentiful, often with fresh pastries and coffee.
Wine tastings can be fun, informal, and highly educational, especially when paired with local cheeses and cured meats.
Travel experience
Flying from London Southend Airport made the trip seamless – fast, calm, and hassle-free. It’s a perfect gateway for a short city break.
