We list the top places to go in May for great weather, breathtaking scenery, cultural highlights, thrilling animal viewing, and extended vacations
Bahamas
Early May is the best time to visit the Bahamas for those seeking sun, as the daytime highs reach 29°C and the nightly lows keep mild, averaging approximately 22°C. Rainy season is expected to begin in late May and last through early June.
The Bahamas are made up of over 700 islands, so there is much to do besides lying on the beach. The third-largest coral reef in the world, the Abacos, is a great place to go diving. Inagua National Park, which is home to 50,000 pink flamingos, is a great place to go birdwatching.

Botswana
May is the best month to visit any of Botswana's key safari reserves, including Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta.
It is also before the ultimate peak season, which starts in June, and has some of the greatest weather for safari (clear skies, mild temperature without being oppressively hot, and little possibility of rain).

Sicily
Sicily's late spring temperatures range from 20°C (68°F) to 25°C (77°F), making them ideal
for touring the island's stunning natural, architectural, and cultural treasures. Take advantage of the pleasant weather and sunshine to explore Sicily's most important ancient monuments, such as the Valley of the Temples, Segesta Ruins, and Parco Archeologico di Selinunte.
This is a great time of year for walking. Wander along the beach or ascend Stromboli, the island's most active volcano, to see the island's spectacular pyrotechnics. Take the Mount Etna cable car to the top for a simpler volcano journey. Up until mid-September, the Mediterranean is warm enough for swimming comfortably, and there are fewer people on the beaches.

California
California is especially beautiful in May, when springtime temperatures, nice warm days, and
blue skies prevail. It can be a more economical season to travel because the summer throngs haven't yet arrived.
On the other hand, California's cities and towns are unique and compelling enough to make the long travel worthwhile. Los Angeles is a strange shining town of health, money, and youth, and San Diego is wonderful for surfing. San Francisco is the state capital of food and outdoor fun (if not the actual state capital). Malibu and Palm Springs, two of the smaller communities sprinkled along this sunny coast, are both charming enough to keep you busy.
