Experiencing Sharm El Sheikh First-Hand

As part of our commitment to providing clients with expert, first-hand travel advice, I was fortunate to join an educational trip to Sharm El Sheikh hosted by TUI.

The trip was designed to enhance our destination knowledge through a combination of resort inspections, excursion experiences, and cultural exploration. Throughout the week, we visited a range of hotels catering to different traveller types, experienced some of the area's most popular excursions, and gained valuable insight into Egyptian culture, hospitality, and everyday life.

Sharm El Sheikh surprised me in so many ways. From the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea and luxury beachfront resorts to the rich history and warm hospitality of the local people, it proved to be a destination that truly offers something for everyone. The Hotels We Experienced Jaz Mirabel Beach Resort

Jaz Mirabel immediately impressed with its relaxed atmosphere, spacious layout, and excellent service.

From arrival, the staff provided a warm welcome, with luggage delivered directly to our rooms and detailed explanations of the resort facilities. The accommodation offers flexible room configurations suitable for couples, families, and groups, with options including garden, pool, and beach views.

The resort features:

  • Three swimming pools

  • Dedicated children's pool

  • Waterpark

  • Private beach with jetty

  • Multiple bars, including a 24-hour bar

  • Main buffet restaurant

  • Three à la carte restaurants

  • Pool bars and snack bars

  • Multiple entertainment venues

The overall atmosphere felt slightly quieter and more relaxed than some of the other resorts we visited, making it particularly appealing for families with older children, couples, and guests looking for a more laid-back all-inclusive holiday.

TUI Magic Life Redsina

Magic Life Redsina was one of the most impressive family-focused resorts I have ever visited.

The resort offers a huge range of room types including standard rooms, family suites, deluxe family rooms, and swim-up options, with various garden, pool, and beachfront views available.

Facilities include:

  • Three swimming pools, including an adults-only pool

  • Large waterpark

  • Private beach and jetty

  • Kids' clubs and family entertainment

  • Multiple bars and snack venues

  • 24-hour bar and snacks

  • Three à la carte restaurants

  • On-site shops

  • Amphitheatre hosting nightly entertainment and themed events

What stood out most was how inclusive the resort is for every type of traveller. Families are incredibly well catered for, but there are also dedicated adults-only areas and even organised social groups for solo travellers known as "Angels," helping guests meet others and enjoy activities together.

One unforgettable moment was watching a beautifully arranged beachfront proposal at sunset while enjoying drinks at the beach bar. It perfectly showcased the resort's appeal for couples as well as families.

Resort Inspections & Luxury Highlights

TUI BLUE Sensatori Coral Sea

For clients seeking a more luxurious Egyptian escape, the TUI BLUE Sensatori Coral Sea exceeded my expectations.

The resort successfully combines luxury and family-friendly facilities while maintaining a sophisticated atmosphere.

Highlights include:

  • Exclusive adults-only hotel block

  • Adults-only pools and bars

  • Swim-up rooms for both families and adults

  • Private beach and jetty

  • Wellness experiences including yoga, meditation, and sound baths

  • Multiple buffet and à la carte dining venues

  • Beachfront bars and restaurants

  • Easy access to the local market

The adults-only sections provide a peaceful retreat for couples and luxury travellers, while families still have access to excellent facilities and entertainment throughout the main resort areas.

Family-Friendly Resorts

We also toured several highly popular family resorts including:

  • Holiday Village Red Sea

  • Coral Sea Aqua Club

  • Coral Sea Aqua World

These resorts are ideal for families looking for action-packed holidays.

Highlights included:

  • Shared waterpark access

  • High ropes courses

  • Extensive children's facilities

  • Kids' clubs for different age groups

  • Family entertainment programmes

  • Junior Kids Den Rooms featuring separate sleeping areas for children

  • Family-focused activities alongside opportunities for parents to relax

These properties provide excellent options for families seeking value, convenience, and plenty of activities for children.

Excursions & Experiences

One of the highlights of this educational trip was experiencing some of Sharm El Sheikh's most popular excursions firsthand.

Snorkelling in the Red Sea

The snorkelling excursion was absolutely incredible.

The clarity of the water was unlike anything I have experienced before, with visibility reaching around 40 metres. We encountered a wide variety of marine life including:

  • Tropical fish

  • Turtles

  • Reef sharks

  • Jellyfish

The excursion included:

  • Boat trip

  • Equipment rental

  • Experienced snorkelling guides

  • Food and refreshments onboard

  • Multiple swimming and snorkelling stops

This is an excursion I would highly recommend to both families and couples visiting the area.

Al Sahaba Mosque & Old Market

Visiting Al Sahaba Mosque and the Old Market provided a fascinating insight into Egyptian culture and Islamic traditions.

Women were provided with abayas and hijabs to wear during the mosque visit, allowing respectful access to this stunning building.

The Old Market offered:

  • Traditional souvenir stalls

  • Local crafts

  • Cultural experiences

  • Opportunities to learn about Egyptian history and customs

For travellers interested in culture and local experiences, this excursion is a must.

Soho Square

Soho Square offered a completely different atmosphere.

Bright lights, restaurants, bars, shops, entertainment, and nightlife make this one of Sharm El Sheikh's most popular evening destinations.

It is particularly suited to couples, groups of friends, and adults looking to enjoy the vibrant side of the resort area.

Standout Moments

Several experiences exceeded my expectations during the trip.

The luxury offered at Sensatori Coral Sea was genuinely impressive and would appeal to even the most discerning travellers.

The snorkelling excursion showcased the incredible beauty of the Red Sea and remains one of my favourite experiences from the trip.

Visiting the mosque and learning more about Egyptian culture was also incredibly rewarding, helping challenge common misconceptions and providing a much deeper understanding of local traditions and values.

Food & Drink Highlights

The food offering across all resorts was excellent and incredibly varied.

Guests can enjoy:

  • International buffet restaurants

  • Italian cuisine

  • Indian cuisine

  • American favourites

  • Middle Eastern specialities

  • Fresh seafood

  • Local Egyptian dishes

The resorts catered extremely well for dietary requirements, and the variety ensures there is something to suit every guest.

Reservations are required for most à la carte restaurants, so I would recommend booking these early during your stay.

Our flights and travel arrangements were smooth throughout.

The onboard experience included:

  • USB charging ports at every seat

  • Wi-Fi options

  • In-flight shopping

  • Hot and cold meal options

  • Snacks and drinks available throughout the flight

Both flights operated on time and airport assistance services appeared excellent for guests requiring additional support.

Sharm El Sheikh Airport was easy to navigate, with clear signage and multiple security checkpoints helping visitors feel safe and secure.

What Surprised Me Most

Before visiting Egypt, I was aware of some of the misconceptions many travellers have regarding safety and local culture.

What stood out most was how welcoming, friendly, and hospitable everyone was throughout the trip.

The level of security across tourist areas was reassuring without feeling intimidating, and every interaction with local people was positive and respectful.

Learning more about Egyptian culture and the Islamic faith was one of the most valuable aspects of the experience and gave me a much deeper appreciation for the destination.
