Staying in the heart of Reykjavík

We stayed at Center Hotels Laugavegur, perfectly positioned in the centre of Reykjavík.

The location couldn’t have been better:

• Right on Laugavegur Street - the city’s main shopping and café hub

• Steps from the famous Rainbow Street 🌈

• Ideal for exploring on foot, day or night

Our double room with balcony was modern, cosy and stylish - the perfect place to warm up after a day of exploring. Comfortable beds, sleek design and a great base for a winter city break.

Exploring Reykjavík: Colour, character & charm

Reykjavík is compact, creative and full of personality.

We spent our first day wandering:

• Laugavegur Street and its independent shops

• Rainbow Street leading up to Hallgrímskirkja

• Cosy cafés, bars and local eateries

• Streets full of colour against the snowy backdrop

Photos honestly don’t do this city justice - every corner feels picture-perfect, especially in winter 🏔️✨

Golden Circle: Iceland’s greatest hits

A visit to Iceland wouldn’t be complete without the Golden Circle, and it was every bit as incredible as expected.

Highlights included:

• Thingvellir National ParkA place of huge historical and geological importance, where you can literally stand between two tectonic plates. Vast, dramatic and humbling.

• Icelandic horses 🐴A magical pit stop to see these beautiful, friendly horses - a uniquely Icelandic experience and a real favourite.

• Gullfoss Waterfall 🌊The “Golden Falls” are absolutely jaw-dropping in person. The power, the mist, the sheer scale - it’s one of those moments where you just stop and take it all in.

The ultimate way to unwind: The Blue Lagoon

After a full day of sightseeing, there is no better way to relax than the Blue Lagoon.

Visiting in the evening was especially magical - warm, milky-blue waters, steam rising into the cold air, and total calm after a busy day. It’s indulgent, soothing and completely unforgettable 🧖‍♀️🩵
