Visas are required for UK travellers to the US who have visited Cuba

British visitors to Cuba during the previous 11 years will require a visa to enter the US.

According to The Independent newspaper, British visitors visiting Cuba within the last 11 years will require a visa to enter the United States.

According to the publication, Joe Biden has maintained Cuba's position as a "state sponsor of terrorism" (SST) following Donald Trump adding it to the list.

Because of this, any British visitor having visited Cuba during the last 11 years is unable to use the Esta visa waiver programme, which is used by the majority of British visitors arriving in the US. Instead, they must obtain a tourist visa.

On January 11, 2021, Trump, who was only a week away from being succeeded by Mr Biden, added Cuba to the same list as Iran, North Korea, and Syria.

Anyone who has visited Cuba and obtains an Esta visa for the US is breaking the law and could theoretically be turned away upon arrival.

If you are planning a trip to the US and have visited Cuba since 1 March 2011 we strongly recommend you check travel entry requirements before your trip.
